Organic search engine optimization practices are definitely better because they would be generating some free and long term traffic shares for the websites but believe it or not, a lot of even top Google ranking sites are nowadays using PPC to boost their traffic shares because not 100% of page visits and clicks are originated from the normal Google searches.

If you have newbie and do not spend more money then organic seo is the best. where you have big investment and want to spend then ppc is also be useful. They both are useful for their respective place.

SEO is way better than PPC.

Why?

1) Easy to learn
SEO is very easy to learn, you read some online articles (there are thousands of them on different SEO blogs) and these mixed with some SEO newsletters (including tips and news in the "world of SEO") you can learn everything you need to optimize your website
2) It is free
You can learn it yourself with some patience so it is free
3) Brings you free traffic
You need to invest a lot in PPC and usually the results are weak.
4) SEO is long term
You can keep your ranking if you don't stop the on and offpage optimization but after your PCC campaign expires you don't receive visits anymore.


Basicly SEO will give you more visitors in long term, PPC will give you more visitors in short term but for money.

I think you have to judge for yourself. I believe (and you may correct me if I am wrong, since I consider myself still being a noob)

SEO pro:
- more sustainable/longterm
- free (as long as you don't factor in your time etc.)
SEO con:
- SEO takes longer to take effect
- SEO is more time consuming
- you rely on other companies (inbound links i.e.)
- search algo changes can impact your work big time
- sometimes the internet/software is just not about longterm investments. who can plan 2 years ahead here...

paid
PPC pro:
- fast first results, sometimes even 10 mins after launching
- you can determine a budget
- you can determine where your Ads will appear (more or less)

PPC con:
- relatively expensive
- you also need to understand/learn AdWords i.e so you utilize the tool effectively, else you end up wasting money.

I think all in all you need to determine what you
- want to achieve
- in what timeframe
- with how much money
and then take it from there.

I think both are best to their positions. In the Organic SEO which is all about optimizing web pages for better visibility on major search engines like Yahoo and Google. Organic or natural engine has a lot more job to do than in PPC, however it is more effective in the long run.

And PPC is all about buying the clicks or visitors from a search engine. What you do here is pay for keywords specifically related to your business niche.

So Organic SEO is something that anybody can go for, PPC needs a higher level of awareness on what you are spending and the ROI.
